Somebody lines the fields before the first game. Usually it is a parent or a volunteer with a tape, a ball of string and a borrowed marking machine, working from a faded diagram. Stake & String turns a field size into the readings that crew needs, so the box comes out square and the penalty arc meets the line where it should.
It covers soccer and ultimate with their rule-book sizes, and any rectangle for everything else. It runs on its own with no staff, and it is built and maintained by WeldonPC (Garfield Heights, Ohio).

Stake & String is published at sportsforceparks.org, and the independence line at the foot of every page applies to all of it. It is not connected with any sports complex, league, park district or governing body. It books no fields, sells no paint and is not a charity or a nonprofit organisation.
